about us

Mission Statement

Our mission is to offer uncompromised quality and service for a far price. Our vision is to be one of the most respected authorities in the underwater photography field for travel, sales, service and education. Our value is taking seemingly complex components and putting them into the most versatile photo package designed for each individual customer. We are then available after the sale to help with not only equipment related question but also to help with any underwater photo related questions. We are not just a sales staff, we are first and foremost Photographic Equipment Repair Technicians, and we know your equipment inside and out. We are also passionate underwater photographers and we use what we sell.

History

Underwater Photo-Tech was founded in 1985 by Fred Dion. As a graduate of the National Camera Institute, avid diver and novice underwater photographer, Mr. Dion decided to take his camera repair knowledge and expertise and devote it entirely to underwater photo equipment.

In 1989 Underwater Photo-Tech launched the first of many innovative, high quality accessories with the introduction of the Body Cap for Nikonos® Cameras. Many of our accessories are designed to protect your equipment investments and keep repair costs to a minimum. Today, Underwater Photo-Tech has successfully captured the market with over twenty exclusive accessories.

Underwater Photo-Tech has grown from a one person 200 square foot facility to a nine employee 2,000 square foot enterprise, half of which is devoted to repair. Skilled technicians work together to ensure high quality service, including pressure testing all equipment wet. Our sales department includes a huge showroom with hands-on displays of all the latest equipment available, making Underwater Photo-Tech the only facility of its kind on the east coast. The entire staff at Underwater Photo-Tech is devoted to courteous, knowledgeable and reliable customer service. You can also browse our on-line store for a selection of some of our most popular products.

Just 40 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts, one mile east off Interstate 93 at exit 4, Underwater Photo-Tech is located in the Granary Shoppes of Derry, New Hampshire. A pleasant staff is ready to take your calls and answer any questions you may have regarding any of our services! Be sure to ask about our equipment rentals and see our on-line store for current specials!

Testimonials

"I have known, worked with, traveled with and been a customer of Fred Dion and Underwater Photo-Tech for more than 20 years. Fred and his staff are a great resource, very pleasant people to do business with, and I like to think that we have become good friends. In other words, they get the highest of marks in my book."

Marty Snyderman

"We’ve depended upon Fred Dion and Underwater Photo-Tech as our resource for professional assistance with our underwater still photography since 1999.  After decades of taking photographs with slide film, moving into the digital realm was intimidating.  Fred and his team helped us successfully negotiate the path of purchasing housings and accessories.  They will be the first place we turn to in the future."

"For nearly two decades I have relied on Underwater Photo-Tech for technical support.  From purchasing new equipment, to repair to designing special application gear, they have continually "delivered the goods!"  Making high quality images underwater involves many things, not the least of which is using good, properly working gear.  Underwater Photo-Tech takes care of that side of things so that you can do the rest."

Brian Skerry

"During the near ten years we have used Underwater Photo-Tech we have found them to be reliable and consistent in their quality service."

"Ever since I have started to bring camera equipment underwater, Underwater Photo Tech has been my go-to place. Fred Dion has the knowledge to outfit pros and amatures alike. Whenever I have a question or a problem with a piece of equipment, Fred has solved it quickly. I recommend them without hesitation."
